While consulting can be both challenging and fun, it is often a position that requires a great deal of knowledge and case interview preparation. So, consultants need to have the ability to deal with the unexpected while also trouble-shooting and resolving problems. As such, most companies who hire such consultants often require such individuals to take one or more tests to show one has such abilities and skills.
Although, generally those who deal well with the unexpected and who have analytical minds often fair the best on such test. Of course, these tests are primarily to show the company one has the skills necessary to perform the required duties of such a position. As such, a company can then determine whether or not such an individual may or may not be an asset to the firm.

As such, one may want to consider working with a firm which offers such practice tests. For, when one has the opportunity to see what types of questions may be asked on such a test, one can often better answer any associated questions.
However, one may also want to know as much about the company as possible. For, if one is planning on going to work for such a firm as a consultant or employee, one may want to know more about the history and day to day operations of the firm. For, then and only then, can one assure that one can help such a firm.
As such, one can often find a great deal of history about various companies both online and through local resources, such as local newspaper clippings at the library. In addition, one may also want to check with the better business bureau to assure there have been no complaints filed against the company. However, regardless of what one may find in such a search, one may want to be cautious about mentioning such research to the company.
Still, if one is looking to land a management position as a consultant or with a consulting firm, one may want to do some case interview preparation so that one is prepared for the applications, interviews and testing which are associated with such a position. After which, one can then decide whether or not one desires to take a position with such responsibility. For, being a consultant can be a challenging, fun and rewarding experience to those with analytical minds who work well both independently and as part of a team.
